Disle

Jacques Disle was born about 1550, probably in Le Lude (Anjou), and was married there about 1575 to Françoise Foureau (daughter of Mathurin Foureau and Thenneline Fauchart). He was buried at Le Lude on January 9, 1625. We know of one child: Françoise, who was baptized at Le Lude on October 12, 1678. She married Mathurin Langevin there on May 25, 1600, and was buried there on July 9, 1620. She was the grandmother of our immigrant ancestor Mathurin Langevin - see Langevin for descendants.

The image above is the twelfth-century church of St-Jean-Baptiste in Le Lude, probably but not certainly the place where these marriages and baptisms took place. It is built over a spring, the site of a pagan temple.
