Pierrette Lauriault was born about 1654 in the village of Le Bourget near Paris (now vanished under the modern airport, but the church of St-Nicolas was preserved - photo above). Her parents were Pierre Lauriault and Jeanne Bonnet or Bucquet (about whom nothing further is known). She came to Canada as a fille du roi probably in 1670, and married Pierre Buteau on October 21, 1671 at Ste-Anne de Beaupré.
