Patry

dit Jérôme

Pierre Patry or Patris and his wife Léonarde Villelongue or Villelon both seem to have been born about 1650 in Limoges (above), and married there in 1670, before emigrating to Québec. Their son Jean Patry was born in Limoges about 1673. We do not know when or why he and his parents came to Canada, but he was there by September 1693, when he married (at Trois-Rivières) Catherine Vanasse (daughter of François-Noël Vanasse and Jeanne Fournier). There were probably several children, but we know only of Marie-Madeleine, who married Joseph-Michel Joyelle dit Lafrenière in 1731 at St-François-du-Lac (his age, 41 or more, suggests this might have been a second marriage). Their daughter Marie-Anne Joyelle married our paternal immigrant ancestor, Jacques Martin, in October 1760 at St-François-du-Lac. Marie-Anne died in October 1815, having had ten children (see Martin).
