Jean Rondeau ("laboreur") and his wife Jacquette Paillereau lived in Marsilly, a fishing village on the coast near La Rochelle, where they attended the church of St-Pierre (above) in the mid-seventeenth century. They had at least six children, whose baptisms are recorded at the church: Jean (1631); Louise (1633); Catherine (1636); Jeanne (1640); Pierre (see below); and Michel (1646).
Pierre Rondeau, the immigrant, was baprized on July 6, 1642, and was in Québec city by 1664. he married Catherine Verrier, a fille du roi, on September 30, 1669 at St-Jean in the Île d'Orléans. They had five known children: Françoise (birthdate unknown, but probably the eldest; see below); Élisabeth (c1674-1741, married Simon Chamberlan); Marie (c1676-1746, married Ignace Chamberlan); Catherine (c1686-1746, married Jean Mimaux; and Pierre (birthdate unknown; married Marie-Anne Jouin in 1700 and died in 1704). Françoise Rondeau married Jean Daignault or Daniau at Ste-Famille on June 7, 1686; she could have been no older than 16. See Daignault dit Laprise for descendants. |
