Jehan Terriot was born about 1601 in Martaize, Poitou; he married Perrine Rau or Reau (born probably 1611) on May 8, 1635. They were among the first emigrant families from France to Port-Royal in Acadia, crossing over from le Havre shortly after their marriage in 1635. Both were dead by 1679. They helped establish the settlement at La Hève (the site is pictured above). Claude Terriot (1637-1725) married Marie Gautrot (c 1645-1732, daughter of François Gautrot and Edmée Lejeune) about 1661 in Port-Royal. Children: Germain (1662-p1730, married Anne Richard, sister of our ancestor Michel Richard dit Lafond); Marie (1665-a1694, married our ancestor Pierre Leblanc; but we are descended from his second wife; see Leblanc); Marguérite (1667, married Claude Landry); Jean (1670, married Jeanne Landry, 10 children); Anne (1672, married Vincent Babin, brother of our ancestor Jeanne Babin Richard); Jeanne (1674-1751, married Bernard Gaudet); Claude (1678, married Agnès Aucoin); Marie (1679-1753, married Antoine Béliveau, brother of our ancestor Jean-Charles Béliveau); Madeleine (1681-c1760, married François Robichaud dit Niganne); Pierre (1684-1711); Élisabeth (1685, married Antoine Blanchard ; Joseph (1687-1711); Marguérite (1689-1777, married René Richard); and yet another Marie (1691-1699).
