As is the case with most "filles du roi," we know almost nothing about Madeleine Tisseran's background. She was from the parish of St-Étienne in Liancourt, in Picardy. Her father's name was Louis Tisseran, and her mother was Louise d'Estrée or d'Estre. She appears to have arrived in Québec in the summer of 1673 (age about 23), and was immediately engaged to Jean Amaury, but only three days later this contract was annulled and she was married instead to our ancestor Pierre Parenteau. See Parenteau for descendants. After Pierre was killed by Indians in 1691 or 1692, she married Jean Charpentier; she herself died in St-François-du-Lac in October 1705. |
